Holy Crap, what the hell is wrong with everyone?funknuggets

Man, do we need to get off our rollers/trainers and out into the open air or what? Sheeshe, it is difficult for me to understand why everyone has to get their chamois in a bunch every time Nick places a post. Man, it is like the kid could say that "the sky is blue" and then get mocked and harassed for it. It is bizarre. Lets get out on the bike and get some fresh air and let the dude post relevant questions without fear of being bashed.

I do not disagree that some of his posts have come across as self-promoting, and a few his reactions to some of the responses have been questionable. However, if you were consistently the target of attack, I would think someone has the right to be on the defensive. So man, can't we all just get along?

It almost seems as if people sit around their offices or dorm rooms waiting for Nick to say something just so they can pounce on him.
Granted, some of the stuff has been pretty funny, but give the kid a break. Some people just seem to come across as know-it-alls... it is just a matter of life. But the fact of the matter is that Nick, for the most part, has some valid and relevant things to say. Whether you chose to listen to it or question it is your choice However, debate it freaking logically and not like a bunch of sissy kids on the playground arguing about cartoons.

If you have a beef and want to challenge him, then pack your bike up to Canada or wait for him to show up at your club ride and then wax him. Maybe we can all take a rbr trip up to Canada with the sole purpose of seeing what the guy has in the pedals ... or aero track wheels for that matter. Would be one interesting ride report to say the least... we can have MB1 take action photos.

I just don't see the point. Nick has not gone out of his way to specifically attack anyone. Lets talk about training, or the Het Volk, or vintage Gios or something... just anything...anything but Nick.

Onespeed are your notorious for single minded thinking as well as single gear riding?

Here I post a question about flying with my bikes (which I purposely left out where I was going) and people get mad at me. They can't directly flame me in the post but they indirectly flame me in ever other flamable post I've put up. Of course I love getting flamed for asking a question. Either that or it just doesn't phase me some people on the internet have a beef with me... I could care less. If anything its good stress relief fighting back because I have so much stuff to get done.

Love,
Nick

You all keep bringing it up again and then asking why this keeps getting brought upKristin

I have one word for you. Doh! Or is it duh? Either way this is beyond old and embarrasing. This isn't the RBR General Forum anymore, its more like the Nick Springer show or the Montel Corcoran show. I always turn off those shows, so I'm outta here. Hope things get better down the road. Perhaps I'll check back in a few weeks and see if any intelligent life still exists on RBR. Way to ruin a good forum.

...on this board so I urge Kristen not to leave yet.I think if everyone who disagrees with a Nick post would simply not reply ,it would gradually go away.Stop posting anything related to him(Nick) and we wouldn't be bothered by all this childish crap.Lets talk about cycling and bikes and not about personalities.

just stay out of the pigsty.

Don't let the trolls get you down.

I too have cut back as the quality of the posts here has declined. I hope it is just the hard winter.

(Hope to) see you around.

I wondered where you have been.MB1
Mar 5, 2003 11:01 AM
I'm thinking most folks around here would be better off worrying about Nick less and riding more.

BTW when are we riding?
Your old stomping grounds........Len J

my wife and I are in Kauai, Hawaii thru the 11th taking a much needed vacation. I'm staying away from the computer as much as possible.

We can ride when I get in some kind of shape. The weather & traveling has been killing me. Maybe April?

Say Hi to Miss M for me.

I was just reading through the posts from yesterday and yet there was another Nick flame and all he did was ask a mundane question about advice about flying with his bikes. I just wanted it to stop, not to create another post and potentially break the camel's back... so to speak and cause you to leave.

Please reconsider leaving, Kristin, we value your advice and your posts. You would be sorely missed.

It's tiresome, but not worth leaving the board as a result of.

You must have got more snow than we did with that storm yesterday! Storms like that this time of year can get anybody down (except maybe MB1 and Miss M).

The problem is that people just can't forget the fact that when Nick started off, he came across as kind of jerky. Now that he is acting normal, people can't forgive his past transgressions. Because of this, it's always "pile on Nick".
Maybe, if they cut the guy some slack, they would find out that the guy isn't so bad.
he can handle itDougSloan

Nick must be the most thick-skinned (or thick-headed?) guy on the board. I've not seen him get too bent out of shape, no matter the fun at his expense. I wouldn't worry too much about it. While being nasty is never good, a little good hearted ribbing, particularly when deserved, is ok if the victim can handle it.

Heck, the first time he came to my notice was when he was asking about how to lie about a damaged frame he was trying to sell off to some sucker on EBay! That's more than just a jerk, that's a con man.
Thats it... My new signature will be Nick - Con man (nfm)Sprint-Nick

Sick of Nickzooog
Mar 5, 2003 9:16 AM
As someone who rarely critiques anyone on this board, I just need to say tat I am sick of Nick and his ego on this board. Nick... the canadian nat'l man. Nick...the on who busted a crank. Nick.. the one who did this/that and this again. Nick.....the one training for this/that and this again. ME..ME...ME..it gets old quick. When he does post intelligent/insightful advice he is actually readable. But, those are few and far between.

It's like picking on nick will somehow erase the memory of that bully that kicked your ass in grade 4.
It honestly comes across as jealousy which is pretty sad considering it only fuels his ego.
Sick of it...Hopefully this post will be the end of it... but somehow I doubt it. I posted a very similar message in a thread below and here we are again talking about it.
Time to lay it to rest.

PODIUMBOOB has cracked me up a few times. My hat's off to him/her. And the photo Nick posted of his squat-jump was the funniest thing posted on this board since grz mnky told that 'dope' railer to 'put the bong down, read, and think before you send a flame. Not doing so makes you look like a horse's ass'

Mainly it's kind of sad, because I do think Nick has some residual neurological damage from his crash, which makes an already annoying personality even worse.

Basically, everyone's bored and it's something to chew on. Agree we need to move on.

That was back in the Roadies Rejoice forum. I remember he'd hype a site he was building, always building and never built, bicycleracer.com or something like that. He was quite a bit like Nick.

I'm taking this page off of my favorites list. To Nick or not to Nick? Campy or Shimano? Steel, Al, or Titanium?
Racing, touring, recumbent or Green Machine? About the only thing worthwhile on this board lately is MB1's ride reports and those have been scarce because he's been snowed in. The nastiness on this board has started to mess with my head, I feel like I've been Clockwork Oranged. See y'all later. I'll check back in a week. Later.

having called people on this board for being idiots before, and being flamed in return, I don't see how you can expect any better of these people. they need to get their sport somehow. I'm sure somewhere along the line someone will whine about the troll police (in reference to your post).
Nick, if you're reading this, just change your nick to something anonymous, and change the writing style. no need to feed these idiots.
ps, 'these idiots' is not in reference to everyone on the board. just some of them.
