Returned from a great trip visiting friends and family 'out there'. Great weather: rain and sun, 40's at night high 70's day.

Recall I was seeking info on biking there. Here's a quick report on my findings should you discover yourself going mad in the ever expanding concrete jungle of Orange County. Antidote: At the least bring hiking shoes and march into the Chino Hills State Park. I did not hook up with any (serious)bikes this trip so I just hiked my ass off in these hills. Great mtb trails though. Saw a bob cat.

The 'hip cycle shop for posers only', as best I could find, is the Two Wheeler Dealer in the Brea Mall, Brea. Total service and cool folks and rentals. The Anaheim Hills Bike Shop was cool too. For cruiser rentals there was the 15th Street Surf Shop on Huntington Beach. (55 degree water, 4 foot breakers, some sand here and there.) There is a fun run around the Huntington Beach Estuary, which is in the process of being saved from the ravages of man-unkind, it's a preserve now with a MUT around it. Saw a turkey vulture, about a seven foot wingspan.

As for road cycling off road, there is a paved trail which runs along the Santa Ana river to the coast. From my base camp at Yorba Linda it's a 26 mile flat run to the sea. I will need to station some bikes out there for future trips.

Hows that for boring! Sorry MB1, I can't compete.

Now would someone please flip the switch to Spring!
