Wow, this was a big announcement! This has got to be good for US racing if they can make it work well. On the one hand, it would have been nicer to have this race a little later but I can understand why they wanted to keep their relative position in march. Perhaps this race and the Tour de Georgia being fairly close together will make a trip to the states genuinely worthwhile for some big Euro teams? That would be sweet!

Now the big question:

What UCI ranking will the race get? 2.3? Could we hope for a 2.2 even?

I don't know about other parts of the country but in the mid-atlantic I've seen more racers and the addition of an extra race or two over the past couple of seasons. With the addition of the TOG and redlands/sea otter I hope this means american cycling is starting to take off as a whole.
