OCLV on Trainer?LD

Is it safe to ride a 2001 trak 5200 on a rear dropout-mount mag trainer? will the stress of pedaling hurt the frame?

Any thought appreciated!

Some people believe the stress will cause the frame to break. But I have yet to see anyone or know of anyone break a frame due to using it on a trainer. Compound this by the fact 1) it would probably be a warrantee issue and 2) if it wasn't the frame would probly be due for replacement, its not something I would worry about.

My 2 cents,

I e-mailed Trek about this last year and was told it was ok on a rear dropout mount trainer. I use an old 5500 (150 gram carbon) on a Tacx Grand Excel with no problems. These frames are pretty tough.

Trek also recommended I not use any frame on a trainer that held the bike by the front and rear dropouts.

I looked up that old e-mail. Trek only recommended I not lean heavily side to side while riding any high end frame on a trainer. No mention was made of not using a ft/rr dropout mount trainer. Sorry for the misinfo.
