|Looking to get a friend in the game cheap and found this
Fuji Roubaix Pro frame and carbon fork
This looks like an incredible bargain if it rides well and behaves like some of the other well made 853 stock bike frames,

|#1 Is the frame all 853 or are the stays 525 ?
#2 Is it standard or oversize tubes ?
#3 How much does your friend weigh, and what is he going to use it for ?
#4 New or used ?
#5 Is it the correct size ?
Depending on the answers, the frame price could be somewhere between an OK deal and a great deal.

|These are new frames and forks being sold on ebay.
I think they look like the oversized tubes but am not sure. I don't know what the rear triangle is made of 853 or something else.
He is medium build and I can get him the right size.
I just wondered if anyone rode this frame.
If it rides like it looks it IS a steal steel.

|If it is a frame and fork, and it will fit your friend, you can't go wrong.|

|I ride a KHS Aero Comp, which is a cheap 853 bike (I've seen new frames selling for less than $100 on Ebay). I like the frame a lot, but the fork (Advanced something or other) is borderline too flexy. I weigh 180 lbs. If the Big in your name refers to heavy, you might have to get a stiffer fork.|

|I have seen that frame and my complaint is with the paint scheme and graphics-cheap and garish looking. The workmanship is good w/clean tig welds. The tubing is round and slightly oversized in the down tube. There is no ovalizing or shaping. The stays are Fuji Cromoly. If the geometry and the paint/graphics suit you it looks like a nice frame for the money-it is very similar to the other 853/select frames such as the mid priced Lemonds etc.For $300 you really can't go wrong.I ride a similar Iron Horse Victory 853 1999 and it has been great. It will be smooth and comfortable like a more expensive frame and weigh about 1/3 lb. more than a $800 frame.Only the zoot factor suffers...|

|Pretty happy with it. Another Taiwan steel frame like my old bike. I think the reason that you won't see ovalizing or custom shaping with 853 is because you'd have to let Reynolds know what shape you wanted it to be before they heat treated it to the 853 condition (853 is extremely hard). I don't see that happening for your lower end frames. That also makes me wonder if the Ironhorse uses something other than 853 for the rear triangle although their website doesn't say anything about it.
I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the Fuji uses 525 for the rear triangle.

|since both Japanise companies. Standard 853 tubeset (not Pro) does not include seat/chain stays.
Many builders choose 525 rear because it only adds 1/4lb but makes frame alot stiffer.

|Unless you have some spare parts for him, he may be better off purchasing a built up bike like a Lemond Zurich. I have seen a few run on special for under $1500 with Ultegra. I'll try to remember where I saw it and post a link. You could also look at Leader frames on Ebay. AL wwith carbon rear seat stay for $280. Fork and everything else is extra. The link is for the Leader frame. I have no association to them for the record.

i only own some of their products. love their customer service, and feel everyone should know about them.
leader bike is really a gift from god for cyclist who have barely enough money for high end gruppos.
