|I checked out brewing supplies, and found malted barley extract. How should I go about making this into a consumeable energy booster? Perhaps some vanilla extract or other flavorings? You also mentioned electrolytes. Is this in addition to the barley? If so, how to add them? As salt?

|If it is dark brown malt, you might not want that. Very strong taste. 'Panamalt' is a brand of clear maltodextrin that doesn't have alot of congeners. This is used in the commercial bread industry as well.
Basically, it is ready to go. Tastes good? Okay, try some Koolaid (mix, no sugar). Electolytes? Maybe a bit of salt, and a pureed Rolaid! I really don't know, but it is definitely possible. Take a look at the back of some popular gels, the forementioned ingredients are there in the largest proportion.
