| I decided to put some Italian in my diet..... | Dave Hickey Feb 24, 2003 10:28 AM | | I just bought a Cinelli Super Corsa from GHV bikes. I'll post pics next week of the completed bike. I can't wait! |
| Traitor! | look271 Feb 24, 2003 10:34 AM | | Nice bike Dave, really. What will all of the Looks think of a pasta eater? |
| Traitor! | Dave Hickey Feb 24, 2003 10:42 AM | | I know, I'm going to have a talk with them. I wish LOOK made a new steel bike. I still have the 3 LOOK's. |
| loud, beautiful lugs! nm | JS Haiku Shop Feb 24, 2003 10:51 AM | | |
| I dare ask, "What components?" ;-) nm | DougSloan Feb 24, 2003 11:25 AM | | |
| I know I'll get flamed for this but.............. | Dave Hickey Feb 24, 2003 11:36 AM | | It's going to have a Cinelli bar and stem but the rest is going to be Dura Ace... |
| Hissss! Give the precious to me!! Nooooo, not dura-ceeee...nm | Spunout Feb 24, 2003 12:24 PM | | |
| Dura Ace? It just ain't fittin', just ain't fittin' ... nm | rwbadley Feb 24, 2003 12:33 PM | | |
| oh, dear... (nm) | lonefrontranger Feb 24, 2003 12:43 PM | | |

| It's wasabe to you sir! (nm) | wasabekid Feb 24, 2003 7:25 PM | | |
| What!? Mama mia, do you want to confuse it? | Gregory Taylor Feb 24, 2003 1:46 PM | | Eight speed Campy only on that critter. Chorus or Athena. Down-tube shifters. Tubulars. Clips and straps. Mutter softly to it in Italian as you build it. |
| don't forget... | alansutton Feb 24, 2003 2:12 PM | | a carbon post and bars to "reduce" road vibrations dampening.
Add a Flite SLR and Speedplays to makeup for some of the frame heft.
Oh yeah, and go threadless. :) |
| congrats dave ... but hold yer horses ..... | Spirito Feb 24, 2003 4:46 PM | | nothing against dura-ace ( i hope its 7400 series) but i have a new in box set of suntour superbe pro brakes (levers, calipers, cables). was keeping them for a far off resto - gum non-aero hoods still soft, drilled levers, short reach calipers with original red/gum colored pads and rubber grommets .
maybe retro bent aint in your plans but if it is early Suntour Superbe pro, quite a statement and very esoteric. i can get a 170mm crankset as well if needed.
let me know - my cost is your cost (brakeset $80, crankset $100-ish - ill have to check). phil hubs, modern derailleurs and the rest is easy. just thought to ask as i know 'ya dig the suntour swag.
anyway well done - whatever it has it will be a beauty. it has a nice face, a great ass - who cares if she can cook ;-)
ciao |
| congrats dave ... but hold yer horses ..... | Dave Hickey Feb 24, 2003 5:09 PM | | Thanks for the offer but this is going to be my main ride. I really don't want to go retro on this bike. I've been collecting 25th anniversary DA parts. |
| cool .... | Spirito Feb 24, 2003 5:49 PM | | you are about to fall in love big time. that is a super sexy frame in the flesh. the cinelli purists have blinkers on and im letting you know your model is far better than the original. patina will just add to its beauty. there are no new production bikes with anywhere near as much style and charisma - its a bargain to boot.
so, what went down? ... you must have worked hard and got bonus points from Mrs. Hickey this past Valentine's Day ..... or is it a suprise?
my sofa is always free if shit hits the fan :-)
ciao |
| I might have to take you up on the sofa......... | Dave Hickey Feb 24, 2003 6:27 PM | | Mrs. H hasn't been informed yet. Look for a fire sale of bike parts and frames on EBay. |
| tell her its mine, your just minding it for me .... NM | Spirito Feb 25, 2003 4:15 AM | | |
| beautiful Italian steel, | Leroy Feb 24, 2003 5:15 PM | | and a shame about the DA and all, but doesn't it have a threaded headset? If so a cinelli quill stem is going to look quite nice. Good to see another Italian steel on the board. I'll look for you if I ever get back to White Rock Lake. |
| ... wonder if Gary has one in my size??? | Akirasho Feb 24, 2003 1:02 PM | | ... although, I think I'd go Campy. Just bought yet another bit for my Bianchi... not a cost effective way to buy a gruppo, but it keeps me interested in the project.
Will be eagerly awaiting the final build pics!
Be the bike. |
| ... oh hell, he does... | Akirasho Feb 24, 2003 1:06 PM | | Be the bike. |
| Bummer (?) for you! Looks like you're partin' with some $$$ nm | noveread Feb 24, 2003 1:47 PM | | |
| Dare to be different.... | MR_GRUMPY Feb 24, 2003 1:18 PM | | Go with the big "S". In fact, be like the Posties. If it's a 1" stearer, get a Dura Ace headset and change it to threadless. If it's 1 1/8 get an XT and do the same.
Keep the bars and stem and tape and seatpost Italian, and the rest Far East. |
| HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE MAD???? nm | DougSloan Feb 24, 2003 1:32 PM | | |
| YES! It HAS! | SnowBlind Feb 24, 2003 3:25 PM | | I just ordered Campy Montreal's to replace my Mavic's.
I'll show those damn Frenchies a thing or two!
No more French Kissing, no more pie a la mode, and I'll be damned if I'll put up with any "je ne sais quoi"! |
| psssst doug ..... | Spirito Feb 24, 2003 4:51 PM | | Let 'em. its better for us who have more reason(s).
ciao |
| ps: you know I'm just kidding around :-) nm | DougSloan Feb 25, 2003 10:52 AM | | |
