I had some Hutchinson's a long time ago and was less than thrilled, but for $20 a tire, I may give them a chance. Has anyone used them? |

| re: Are these worth it? | Wise Feb 23, 2003 11:23 PM | | They are not bad tires for 19.99.. I just retired a set that i had ridden for a couple thousand miles. They still have some life on them too, but will be relegated for trainer use.
The seemed to handle pretty good actually, which was a bit surprising maybe since they are not the softest tire, but they aren't hard either. They felt a bit narrow for 23s ...
the only disadvantage i can think of is that they were all sliced up within a few hundred miles. All the slashes scared me, but the tires never failed and i only flatted a few times with them.
I would give them my recommendation, esp at that price |
| Typical Supergo | pmf1 Feb 24, 2003 6:48 AM | | The size for $19.98 is a 650x23. Do you have 650 wheels?
Its 24.98 for the 700x23.
I had a set of carbon comps and before that a bunch of competition gold (this is in the pre-carbon days). They were all decent tires. Not a bad deal for $25. I think USPS uses them if that does anything for you. |
| That's right... | look271 Feb 24, 2003 7:23 AM | | I forgot about that little "detail". I just may go overseas and get some Conti Gatorbacks from Xpedia for approx $18. I KNOW those won't flat often! (Yes I know about addded shipping costs, but I'll be getting other stuff, so it balances out.) |
