|It's good to see a government actually taking a controversial step to control traffic and it's time US federal, state and municipal governments and their agencies took steps to do the same.
Traffic in cities like New York and Los Angeles is no accident. It happens because none of those responsible for controlling it is willing to step on the toes any of the offending interest groups, including one-passenger cars, trucks, trucks, trucks and more trucks. Surcharges are a partial answer. Banning commercial vehicles during rush hours is another. They're overdue in this country.
NYC had a good thing going after the 9/11 tragedy when car travel was severely restricted into Manhattan. Too bad it wasn't expanded and extended.

|The derth of cars in Manhattan post-9/11 was directly caused by a terrorist action, perpetrated by a group dedicated to the destruction of the American way of life. Any government that hopes to bring about the same type of societal change as that terrorist action produced will have a hard time being elected in a free society, and thank Alah for that.|| |
