|I had the date I was to purchase my bike circled on the calendar for well over a month in advance. Before that date, I spent saving and narrowing down my choices.
When the day arrived, I hurried to the shop only to find that my both of my favorites were sold. So, I opted for the same bike in a less favorable color-- purple, or "plum" as Klein calls it. I said, "what the heck, what does color really have to do with anything." Well, I keep my bike in my living room and the purple is driving me crazy. Anyone who knows Klein, knows the paintjobs are amazing. It is a beautiful purple that changes tones as the light strikes it from different angles. Nonetheless, it's purple and instead of getting used to it, it's starting to bother me.
What are the pros and cons of getting the Klein repainted. Could I trust a Maaco to do it? How much would you expect it to cost to repaint it with a similar quality paintjob in a different color?

|How you doin? Klein uses some of the best quality paint in the business. I wouldn't touch it.|

|... bought specifically for the color...
... sounds like it's time to change the decor in the living room to match your new Kleiny (this type of paint is still expensive... and I suspect that a one off from anyone is gonna cost a ton (have you considered contacting Klein about a repaint?) I think it's gorgeous... especially in sunlight)...
Be the bike.

|Klein's plum color is beautiful but I understand where you are coming from. You spent a lot of $$ and you want it the way you want it!! There's nothing wrong with that. I personally love Klein's orange and the silver cloud colors. As for repainting, I would NOT do it. First off, unless you get it done by Klein, no one else will be able to duplicate their incredible paint jobs because of the way they first paint it, then put the stickers on it and then clear coat it. Well, someone else might be able to actually do it but it will cost you a lot of $$ and who knows if will turn out as nice. Finally, if you ever decide to sell the bike/frame in the future, you will have a tough time because no matter what you tell them (about how much you disliked the plum that you spent a few hundred $$ to repaint it) people will always think there
be something wrong with it. What color did you want anyway?? Plum is a beautiful color and a lot better than some of their '03 standard colors like Kalahari Blood Red. Burning Poinsetta isn't bad but their Burnt Orange and Plum was a lot nicer. I take it you bought a '02 bike?? Good luck in whatever you decide. Ride ON!!!

|Kalahari Blood Red is awesome. I love the way mine looks. Pure red in certain lights and orange in others. Tahoe Frost is a winner too. Very pretty. Of course it is personal preference. I am not a big fan of purple, but I do think that the Plum paint job is very pretty. I wouldn't have anyone else besides Klein repaint it.|

|I didn't care for the color of my '99 QR the first time I saw it (burnt orange/yellow). But after a period of time it grew on me. I've only seen one other like it since I've owned it. Klein paint jobs are gorgeous. I use Mother's Carnuba wax and it shines like a diamond on a goats you-know-what. It looks brand new unless you really get down close and give it a once over. Then again-when I'm riding the paint job is the last thing in my mind..just ride it and forget about the color...|

|I've got a plum Quantum Pro. Pretty darn good looking, especially with Rec 10 on it.|| |
