Spinning away and suddenly the resistance was gone. First I thought the mag unit had slipped, but nope, the rear tire was flat. Funny, I had only one on the road for 2002 and now I get one in the basement.

Early 90's vintage. This happened once before quite a few years ago as a result of glueless patch letting go. I suspect the same problem this time, but I put another bike on the stand, continued riding and left the problem for later.

I have had many more flats on the trainer than on the road. The trainer spindle heats up from friction and transfers it to the tire and tube which finally gives, usually at a seam.
