I just got back from a trip to the San Jose Ca area and had the opportunity to ride a lot of flat roads, which we don't have up in my neck of the woods. I found by getting down lower on my bars and more areodynamic I could add a couple of MPH on my speed. This article might tie into the question about bar drop...getting as low as possible within your comfort range increases speed...it also comes into play when descending.. I can jack up my speed by sometimes as much as 15 MPH if I alter my position...
