Wild HRM readings(5 posts)

Wild HRM readingsVikingbiker7

I purchased a Polar 150 back in Decemeber. Almost every time I ride, my max is something like 216 or 225. We all know this is in error. Most of the readings I see while riding seem to be in the ball park for my preceived effort. What could be causing this error, and what are my remedies?
Thanks
you're going thru an area of electrical interference nmFez

Just a WAG, but I've seen this myself and I use an older model Polar Edge. One of my routes goes by a microwave tower, every time I pass a particular point on this route, my HRM pegs at 225, coming or going. This last abouts about 30 seconds. Nowhere else that I can recall on other routes does this happen.

I had the same problem wirh my Polar when riding past several homes in a row that have DSS dishes as well as when riding past some sub-stations. I now have a Ciclosport CP-29 ($149) with digital transmission, error correction in the strap.......end of interferance.

I do ride by high-tension wires. Especially when crossing the Intracoastal waterway. Am I correct to think that it is just EM interference and not just my bad luck with expensive equipment?
