|Okay, the last few years here in the Philly area haven't been too bad. I've been able to do 30-35% of my training outside. This year, I've had 2 days to get out. This really sucks. I hate it. I hate my trainer (although I am religous about riding it to keep up my training). I am so bored too. I can only watch so much TV while riding. I listen to music, but after 2 hours on the trainer, that gets to me too. There is no real answer to training indoors. It just plains sucks. I try to vary my ride schedule, take some spin classes, just for a change of scenery, and continue my weight training for variety of excercise. I know it will pay off in the spring when I start racing, but it feels like forever from now...damn, more snow in the forecast...I'm f@*#^%!
Thanks for reading my rant. I feel a little better. Feel free to post yours...get it out, you'll feel better...

|The weather is not all that different here in DC. Miss M and I are getting in 300-400 miles every week. We did a nice century up past Gettysburg today.
You can do it if you really want to. Plus it is big fun to be about the only ones out-it is amazing how much better we get treated by drivers this time of year.

|Not as easy as you might think with having a little guy to take care of. No way I take him out in this weather.

|Little guys grow up and move away. You can ride anytime in your life-we are in our 50's and riding like kids again.|

|But ya know what? It'll get better and when your little guy is bigger you'll be thinking back to these days. I have girls who are now 8 & 10 and there are actually days that I COULD go out but I don't because I don't get to spend alot of time with them (I see them off to school and when I get home they're asleep). You'll get your riding in, but he will only be little once. This might be heresy, but there are more important things than riding.|

|It's not hard to have a good training schedule here in the snow belt of Ontario and get outside. We shovel snow! As with bikes you use the right one for the task.Arms- a small scoop to allow throwing over the banks. Legs-a snow pusher with wide blade all the resistance you need. I have full Dura-Ace on my blower 27 speeds forward 9 reverse . I'm thinking of switching to Mavic rims but the Ariens are ok for now. My wife finds the drop handle bars a little awkward, but you can really lean into the banks. Well its snowing again so I'm off to train.
