My bday weekend - the good & the BAD!jtferraro

Hey gang,

Went on a trip to Stowe, VT this weekend for some snowboarding. On the way up I get a speeding ticket...actually was hoping the officer was going to notice it was the day before my bday and let me off, but no such luck - Oh well! My girlfriend gives me the new DA/Lance 7750 pedals I've been wanting - NIICE! Then today I really "F" up my knee while riding in the trees. Initially I thought I broke my leg but now know it is just the knee that is really F'd up. The inside of my knee is really swollen and I can barely walk - limping around. I checked in w/First Aid/Ski Patrol. They suspect MCL. I also spoke briefly to a physical therapist about it - also thinks might be MCL. I hope to see a doctor tomorrow. This really sucks. I've just been getting back in gear lately, too: spinning classes/heart rate monitoring, running(treadmills), keeping a better eye on what I eat...blah, blah, blah...and now THIS! ARRGGHHHHH!! So far I've just been icing it for 20 mins on, then 20 mins off for the 3.5 hour ride home back to CT.

Good luck tomorrow when you go to the doc. Sucks to have an injury this time of year. Don't put too much into the "armchair" diagnostics, people tend to tell you the worst. I bet it's not as bad as you think.
I really feel for youStevieP

I have been fortunate in that I have never had a serious injury (sprained ankeles from playing soccer aside).

If I had injured myself like you have then I would be totally gutted so I really feel for you. It must be very hard to cope with the possibility of being out for the summer and having to build the strength back.

I really hope that you get good news from the doc. Try not to get too down.

I guess there is not much anyone can say to make you feel better but I am sure that there aremany well wishers out there.

Chin up & good luck.

Steve

I have an 11:15(eastern time) appt. my my doc. I'd imagine he/she will refer me to probably then see an orthopedic some time soon. Thanks for the 12-27 cassette offer. I'm curious to see how much damage I did. I could have just sprained the MCL, but I doubt it. I think it is probably torn, at least partially, and it could even be severed. From what I was reading at that site I posted the link to, there is a chance that I could have torn my MCL AND part of my ACL. Let's hope that's not the case.

Yeah, its tough having nice, fast european cars, huh?

Yeah, I hope to meet you and YOUR lady this spring/summer, too!
