I'm looking forward to it! I hope it turns out as good as they expect it to. It'll be a good thing for Georgia and help the growth of cycling in the states.

...any additional information on it? I would really enjoy seeing some of it, but I have not heard much. I know that Valdosta was trying to get the Tour to come through the town, but have not heard anything.

I'm only a couple of hours away in South Carolina. I hope to get to a stage or two - if my family life allows.

they did a good job, although they need to add more info on the race profile. I'm from CT, so I guess that we'll have to catch it on OLNTV, in the NE.

Are you in Valdosta? Or near it? I grew up there, went to Lowndes High. I'm in Phoenix now, but my parents are still there, and I make the trip back once or twice a year. If you are near-by, we'll have to meet up & go riding....the people I still know there have no interest in riding at all...

Yep, I have been in Valdosta since 1998 when I started teaching at Valdosta State University after finishing my doctoral program at the University of Kentucky. There is now a fairly regular cycling club in town that was restarted by myself and two others. The link to the website is My parents lived in Scottsdale from 1993 - 2002 then moved to Aiken, SC.

Let me know when you are planning on coming to town and we'll go riding. You can e-mail me directly at:

I grew up in S. Ga (Valdosta), and went to Ga Tech, so I'm psyched to head back there and catch the race. Think I'm going to try to catch the mountain stage @ Rome, and then see the circuit race in Atlanta. Think I can bring the girlfriend along as well....she's getting more & more interested in bike racing (she watched most of the Giro & Tour with me last year).

Yes Ga Dog, I know that Tech got killed by Ga this brother (who's finishing up Vet school @ UGA) has yet to let me hear the end of it. But next year....
I'll be helping with route signs for Threshold Sports. nmBrooks

I am going to try to make it to the dalton stage and the atlanta crit. It sounds like it will be a great stage race that is much needed here in the states. Living in nashville I am only a few hours away from the dalton stage.
