But it will be windy and raining the whole time. You might die of hypothermia in those conditions. Do you ride anyway? :)

Spring is just 50 days away!!!

Yeah, see, we'll be just north of you and at it's current track, the storm is supposed to be all snow for us! I just want to know what time it's supposed to get here! Will I get to do the coffee ride that morning???

It's very salty here right now. Riding when some of this stuff starts to melt will be a very briny affair.

I'm sticking to the trails this weekend. Bettery muddy than gravlox'd.

You can say that again.Kristin

I amost spun my car the other day on salt...and we're not talking a pile of salt cyrstals left behind by a truck at an intersection...just plain old white roads. Didn't realize it could be so slick.
Boy that is a tough one.....RIDE of course. nmMB1

Of course, it's supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny in North Carolina. Plus, we've had two days of rain to wash all of the salt away. ... It's about time we had some decent weather. Usually we get quite a few mild days during the winter, but not this year (so far).
Ride anyway! That's why my beater bike is so beloved!velocity

This is the first fall/winter season that I've continued to ride every weekend. Experiencing the weather has become enjoyable. Good advice from this forum has eliminated the pain and most of the discomfort. I do wish I would have ordered those fenders.

I'm in Chicago and definitely will be out this weekend. How bad is riding on salty roads? Will rinsing off my bike when I get home be enough to protect the drivetrain/frame, or is it just a bad idea to take my Indy Fab on the roads this time of the year? I've been riding my beater this winter but would love to switch things up.

There will be plenty of great weather, just wait for it. I personally dont think one can rinse all the salt off sufficiently.

It's been in the mid-high 60s the past couple days, and warmer than normal (50s, 60s, even 70s) all winter. The last time we had any precipitation to speak of was the first week of November.

On the other hand, the lack of rain means no grass, gardens or washing of cars for the second straight summer. Not to mention the part where the Boulder Straight Line Tornado (TM) has been doing it's thing with gusto. (sigh) Time to dodge the tumbleweeds.

I, for one, will be taking my fixed-gear out for a ride. I slapped an old pair of Nokian studded tires on it, and I'm using 42/16 gearing, so I should be ok with even moderate amounts of melting slush. Oh, BTW, it has a rear fender, and also a frame-mounted ATB splash guard, too.
I did 29 today on my fixie before coming to work =)look271

Temps about 30f, little wind and a bright, sunny day. Here there are TONS of ashes/gravel on the roads. Makes climbing and cornering a real interesting experience!

With all the wet salt and dirty water on the road? Getting my money's worth on the trainer.
Nevermind, warm weather for Chicago has been cancelledKristin

I should have seen it sooner. It was the old ground hogs day trick. For now until June, they will be dangling that ever-elusive warm day out in front of the forecast. For the next three months we will always be 5 days away from warmth. Enjoy!!!
