|I am interested in several bikes in the classified section, 56 or 57 cm. However, they are all listed pretty high for a used bike. How much do bikes depreciate? How close are bikes selling on this site to the asking price? I don't want to offend by offering too low, or be unrealistic either. THX|

|It's the standard economic problem of high asking prices vs. small offer prices. So go ahead and make your offer, this will at least get negotiations rolling.|

|I sold a frame on RBR, and I've sold some saddles as well. Each time, the items went to people who emailed me with lower prices... I play them off of each other, and get the best price I can. It works out... I sold a new Bianchi EV2 with aluminum seat post for 600. The asking price was 750, since I'd paid 800 and never built it up.|

|I bought my bike from this site. At the time, I felt as you do. Then, 2 good (for me) bikes appeared; both were "priced to sell", i.e. significantly lower than similar ones. I jumped and made my deal. By now, you probably know the market well enough to know this when you see it.
I think my case is the exception 'though. Negotiate. IMO.

|I just bought a Serotta CSI custom on this site. I did not pay too much. On the contrary.
Just shop around, know what you're willing to pay, and watch out for bargains.
