Which bike would you recommend: 2002 Cervelo Prodigy with Ultegra for $1400, 2003 Cannondale R-800 with 105 for $1400, or 2002 LeMond Zurich with Ultegra for $1300? Why? I will be riding 50-100 miles/week and will ride 4-5 century rides each year. Thanks for your comments!

I had a cannonball R1000 (ultegra) and my buddy rode a zurich (ultegra too)--I found the cannonball to be really zippy and acceleratey compared to the lemond, great for sprints and climbing and races, but the zurich was steady and smooth and solid and great great for centuries. They were both fun but the cannonball beat me up a little more after 100 miles compared to the smooth cadillacness of the lemond. But I tell ya, I loved em both. We traded off alot :) I still have the R1000 and am working on topping 5000 miles before upgrading! He sold the Lemond and got a Giant TCR1 for increased zippiness, and he loves it. But he still pines for the classiness of the zurich.

I would go for the Prodigy, a group ride I was on in the summer a sponsored rider who had a titanium bike from the sponsor chose to ride the prodigy (he worked for a store that sold them,) he told me that the prodigy was one of the smoothest rides and if it was up to him he would ride the prodigy over the sponsors bike. Just note that the stock wheels that come with the bike are sh*t. Ask the dealer to replace them with open-pro/ ultegra. If you are going for the R800 for $1350 contact Gary at, he can do a CAAD 5 with full ultegra and open pro wheels for $1350.
