Riding in S.F.(4 posts)

Riding in S.F.Fender

I recently moved to S.F., and find the group rides a little lacking, actually its the riders that I find strange. They have this attitude and several are not willing to have a conversation while riding. I lived in San Diego for almost a year in 2001 and I never encountered this attitude from riders. I can best describe it as snobby, cold, and egocentric. Is this just me or are the riders in S.F. like this, or is it that I just happen to encounter such riders? This happened at the ride that meets at the Golden Gate bridge every weekend.

Having grown up in the Bay Area but now residing in Boston, I have found some (well, one) of the group rides I picked up near the GG Bridge (when visiting relatives) to be quite fun, but that was about two winters ago. I wonder what's changed...

I am planning on coming out there again in March for another trip and would be interested to learn what rides are going on (and which ones I should avoid).

try the Saturday ride that leaves from CityCycle at 9am and meets at 8:30. they're on Union and Steiner. 20 to 40 cyclists, all levels. very nice, encouraging, talkative, etc. i doubt you'll have the same problems you had with your group. hope to see ya there!

I don't live in the city anymore, but have ridden with a few clubs in the north bay recently and the riders were friendly...there is a great site that lists rides from many norcal clubs at
