|Last weekend I got taken out by another rider who hit a patch of ice. For my reward of drafting too close I received a nice road rash along my hip. Any sugguestions on what to use to help the healing? I've heard "Brave Soldier" works, but kinda expensive for a little bottle.

|While there are several products on the market, and some may perform much better than others, I have had great luck with the simple antibacterial ointment you can get at any discount drug store. Usually sold as brand name or house brand. Keep the wound "wet" with ointment all the time, using a covering, non-stick bandage if needed (under clothes). When possible, leave things open-air. Wash once or twice a day, scrubbing gently, dry, and reapply the ointment. Depending on how deep the road rash is, it will be gone in 10-14 days. If it feels warm to the touch or gets significantly red around the edges, visit a doctor because it got infected (not likely if using antibacterial stuff).|

|Thanks for the advice. I'll stock up on the antibacterial ointment, but I hope I'll not need to use it very often.|| |
