How many frames from the same manufactuer have you owned?Dave Hickey
Jan 16, 2003 9:05 AM
Reading Doug Sloans 43(admitted error) Bianchi's post got me thinking. How many frames from the same manufactuer have you/do you own? Most people know I'm a big LOOK fan, I currently own or have owned 6 LOOK frames. I'm down to 3 but there's always room for a 4th.

1 - '98 Seven Ti Sola MTB -- very old pic. I can't believe I bought those ugly tires! Bike is currently being re-built as a converted singlespeed for use as a backup during my solo 24 hr race.

2 - '99 Seven Ti Axiom Road:

3 - '01 Seven Ti Verve MTB singlespeed with vertical dropouts and eccentric bottom bracket. This was the first frame Seven built using vertical dropouts and EBB to accomodate chain tension and disc brakes. This is my race bike!

4 - '02 Seven Ti Muse singlespeed cross/fixed-gear road. Illoved the idea of vertical dropouts and EBB, I spec'd it on this frame. So simple.

sponsored by Seven. otherwise i am convinced that you either have a money tree in your back yard or you are printing it in your basement.

if you add the cost of ALL my bikes together they might equal a Seven....beautiful bikes - you get what you pay for.

Did you buy all of the other ones while waiting for your Dean to show up?

Not really although I learned with dealing with Dean, take the time they tell you they will delivery and times that by 2.5 and that's when you will receive it. It's avery small company and it's the price you pay to have a relatively cheap hand built bike.

I counted them up and couldn't believe it! Three MTB's (still have one) and four road bikes from the old Criterium frame to a 2.8, and later a CADD 3. Two Treks, one aluminum, one OCLV (stolen).
1 each:
Merckx Fuga (alum. CF seat stays, current main ride)
Romic (steel lugged touring converted to single speed, current ride)
Serotta (steel MTB, lost in a fire)
Tommasini Diamante (lugged steel with Campy Croce D'Aune/Chorus, bent downtube in crash)
Sommers (steel TIG track bike)
Nishiki Alien (steel MTB with elevated chain stays -remember those?!)
Raleigh (early steel MTB with bull moose handle bars)
You're the winner so far, although SS_MB-7 has you on $$$Dave Hickey

Just beginning my search for new bike and would like your input. Could you compare the ride of a Trek 5200 to Look KG 361 (or maybe 261 if applicable) if you've had the opportunity to ride them. I have a feeling the LBS won't have the Look in my size, at least yet - so test riding the Look may not be an option. I know the geometries are different - look more "relaxed" form what I gather- but just trying to get any kind of comparison from someone who has more knowlege. Thanks in advance!
