|Does anyone know what happened to lotus bicycles? A friend of mine gave me an old Lotus and I plan on re-painting it. I'd like to get frame decals but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone have any bright ideas. I know that Lotus isn't exactly the name you think of but it's what I've got to work w/ for now.|

|Sorry for not having the specifics, but a Lotus brand bike was available in the 80's, imported by the same guys on Long Island, New York who had previously brought in Mexican-built (I think) Windsors (or maybe i'm imagining the Mexico connection because of Eddy M's world hour record, set in Mexico City, aboard a Windsor-badged Colnago). Windsor was also the bike sponsor of my club for a while.
Anyway, these Loti were mid-level, well priced bikes, probably from Taiwan. My father had a tourer, complete with racks, but they also had real racers, which they supplied to their sponsored team at the time. The reason I know of the racers was because a pre-teen Mike McCarthy once showed up on the Gimbels ride with an "aero" (oval tubed) Lotus (equipped with Dura Ace AX?)which he swore was plenty stiff. I recall admiring his "professionalism", even at such a young age, touting his sponsor's goods.
