Yep. Mektronic for road. Not sure if it's still being manufactured or available though.

There is ABSOLUTELY no comparison where it counts, tolerances, materials, forgings, quality control, surface treatment, etc. There is NO WAY that Miche is "almost the same as Campy" except maybe at the low end. Is this similar to your theories that "all 853 frames are identical, so any one costing more than the cheapest available must be a rip off"?

hey now, who said that? the "all 853 frames are identical"? come on now... as far as "being the same as campy", I wasn't talking about tolerances, materials, forgings, quality control, and definately not surface treatment or etc...whatever the etc. is....or wait, maybe the etc. is where the similarity is..they sure look a lot alike..maybe I'm talking about looks and action...do you think they look similar and work similarly?

not in group format, but you can certainly put together a set using better lighter components.

if you shop correctly you can do it even cheaper.
Sure, there are lotsfractured

Simplex are very coveted, depending on the model...

I have/had some Rino parts on my roadie (replaced about half of them)

SRAM is great (although their trigger shifters need work and some people don't like gripshift.) The XO parts compete directly with XTR (and are cheaper)

Huret has some interesting stuff...

Mavic made some of the best working stuff ever... and some people swear by Mektronic

The Vivo derailleur is still having the bugs worked out

Rolhoff's style of shifting might be the way of the future,

Or you could always go with Sturmey Archer...

Free yourself from the grasp of the Two!!
