I am in the market of buying a new indoor trainer. I have considered the CycleOPS fluid2 trainer because of its good reviews. However, I recently went to my local bike shop and saw a new CycleOPS Magneto, which is kind of a mag trainer WITH automatic progressive resistance of the fluid trainer. Has anyone trained on this Magneto trainer or know of anything about it. I haven't seen any reviews on this website of this type of trainer. I am a CAT3 racer in CA and use the trainer for many different kinds of training including VO2 Max, strength/endurance, and high cadence (130+rpms) stuff. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Raven

i'm a calif. mountain biker who recently relocated to upstate new york. had to break down and buy a trainer (and road bike), and picked the magneto. this is my first-ever trainer, but i did try other fluid trainers by cycleops and minoura at my lbs. for the money, this is an excellent unit. resistance is not quite as realistic as the fluid, but it is darn close enough for the price. right now it is running about $60 less than the cycleops fluid2. quiet, too. it would be nice to have a remote control for the resistance, but you can't have everything for that price.

andrew juskaitis at velonews gave it a good review:

Hey thanks for the info,

I met the guy at the shop and he sold it to a buddy of mine but I haven't seen him to ask him about the trainer yet, but it sounds good so far. Anyone else???
