Check out www.deesidecycles.com
they sell custom built steel and aluminum bikes for about a fourth the price you'd be charged in the US. Shipping is expensive though, but still worth it by a long shot. What's the downside other than the store is a quarter way around the world. Great deals on other things too, like Look carbon shoes. I'm getting an 853 single speed with custom everything and really nice components for 800.
A fourth the price?jtolleson

I surveyed a lot of different options on the site and didn't see anything that saved greater than 15-20% over better know 'net sites. What did I miss?

where else can you find a custom 853 track bike for 800? I've looked a lot too and it's by far the best deal I've seen. And the tires, look shoes, build kits, etc., there's tons of stuff.

You do realize those prices are in english pounds. $1.61us=1 english pound.
Exactly. Not that big of a bargain. (nm)jtolleson

Aside from the fact that the prices need to be adjusted by 1.5 or so to get them into $US, is there any chance that two frames built of the same tubes could actually be of different quality? There is a theory that you can get quite a bit of difference in frames due to the expertise of the builder - that all 853 frames are NOT the same. Just a theory, of course.

concidering tig welding 853 steel is probably the easiest way to make a bike I'll take my chances. Dont assume that if you pay double you get double. Your also assuming that because the price is low that the builder isn't skilled, shame. What frame do you ride?
