|I am interested in buying a trainer but don't know the advantages and disadvantages of a Mag trainer and a fluid trainer.|

|Fans were good because the resistance increased as you went faster. Similar to how it would feel outside. Unfortunately, they were deafeningly load.
Mags are quieter and, for a while, became an acceptable alternative. They don't have the constantly changing resistance of a fan though. They use a dial to increase resistance.
The Fluid units offer the resistance of a fan without the noise. Kinda like the best of both worlds. Now if the price would come down we'd be set.

|That's what the salesman told me but who to believe.

|Just went through the same thing myself. Decided to get a fluid trainer (CycleOps Fluid2)and love it. This type is what the Spinervals and CTS workout videos use, so the on-screen instructions and workout are directly usable without factoring anything else in. Don't know if that would be true for mag or wind trainers.|| |
