|i'm blanking on the name. some french downhill mountainbiker loses her sponsorship, becomes a bicycle messenger, learns to fit in, meets an old school italian shop mechanic who frowns on her taste for shimano, they become friends, she finds true love.
anyway, there's a seen in that flick where some messenger says "we wave to each other like this" and proceeds to wave four fingers while resting his palm on the bar of his mountain bike. the reason for this he explains is because "if you don't people will think you're an idiot" (or something like that).
did anyone else see that movie and did anyone else think some of those scenes were just embarrasingly geeky? (such as the one i just mentioned)

|I've probably made a hash of the French...
Anyway, a great film, some geeky portions, but then it's not really about bicycling. It's about speed and time and (consequently) the theory of relativity.
Still and all, it has some truly great scenes--when the Italian ex-racer-turned-mechanic and the young downhill racer are comparing the ill-effects of saddle time on their sex lives, or when he pulls up (down?) his pants to show that although he hasn't ridden in years, he still has a cyclist's tan.
It's a great, great movie.

ya, that was excellent. i enjoyed the flick immensely, but there were just a few scenes that made me a bit squeamish.

|The waving part was lame and last "race" at the end was really lame but otherwise a great movie about time. The pissing match about the ill effect of cycling was great. There was a lot of subtle things that I didn't catch the first time I saw it that are really great.|| |
