When does everyone's racing season begin?wheelsucker

I know people in warmer climates start racing fairly early, here in the mid-atlantic we don't really start racing until mid march/beginning of april and we go until mid-september.
how about everyone else?

Five or six years ago Tym Tyler used to hold his first spring series races the 2nd or 3rd weekend in Feb. Late February / early March always make for some pretty fun weather conditions. I've raced in 35-40 degrees and raining / sleeting daggers more often than I care to think about.

Here in CO they don't start until April 1. Just when the weather turns crappy. January and February are dry and sunny, but March (snowiest month) and April (2nd snowiest month) are pretty scary. That's when the wind really gets howling, too.

It was 65-70 and no wind here the past 2 days. I got a lot of riding done.

It looks like Tym just updated his schedule for next year and we are starting in mid March this year. Last year the first race I did (Tour of Richland County) had a temp of around 32 degrees and that was at the beginning of April. Needless to say, after the first climb I was plenty warm.

Scott Denny is the single most sadistic bike race promoter I've ever known. He is evil twin to whatever Iberian madman thought up that Angliru stage at the Vuelta.

I've done several of Scott's races and have cursed him roundly every time. Have fun and I'd recommend breaking out your triple.

Too soon. It does not give much time for periodisation and people stay fast all year. I'm not fast anytime of the year but the weekend group ride seems to maintain the same pace year round.

just straight down the road for 1/2 hour, then back. No turns, 4 lanes. Perfect for the sprinters.

It's more like a circuit race. If you've done any of the LAX races, it's almost identical. Last year, we probably went around the circuit around 10 times. It was winner take all last year. Very cold morning last year as well.

Please note that this is an open, non-catagorized race. Not for the feeble. This thing certainly favors the Is and IIs when it's all said and done.
First crit that I'll race is March 15th. The good races start in May. -nmTig

Here in GA/SC, Rich Hincapie usually puts on a training series in Greenville, SC in late Feb. through March. The first "real" race is in late March.

First race here is Jan. 20. Full tilt is on in early Feb. with Mothballs and the Valentine's Day Massacre. It's been in the 80s and beautiful here. It would take more than a minor miracle to get me out of SoCal.

There are some mixed category races starting in late-January, and one that even has a 4-mile dirt section on it, but the Texas Cup races don't start until late-February.
