North Texas Ride ReportDave Hickey

One of the nice thing about Texas is we can ride year round. Although it was cloudy, temperatures were 65 degrees yesterday. The first picture is the MUT I use to get out of town.
Yes, we have hills in TexasDave Hickey

The guy driving this wagon turned just as I was snapping the picture. It was a covered wagon with two leather automotive seats. It was being pulled by two huge horses.

It's a Specialized Comp. It was all the major functions as well as split timer, slit distance, and countdown timer. The only thing I don't like is you have to scroll through too many functions.
Psssst, Dave! That's a bump, not a hill. (nm)eyebob

Dave, take these boys to the hill country around VanderpoolTig
Dec 30, 2002 8:33 AM
The hills may not be Colorado epic climbs, but they sure make up for it in steepness! FM337 turns boy into men if it doesn't kill 'em first!
Vanderpool-my favorite place to ride in TexasSteveS

Since you posted a picture of my favorite hill in the Vanderpool/Utopia area, do you (or anyone) know the grade of that slope? Its always good for a 50+mph descent.
I don't know the grade, but is has to be high.Tig

Even driving up it once in my old truck with a 350, 5-speed manual, and a low-geared differential, I crawled up it in 1st and 2nd gear.
I later rode up it and felt sorry for what I put the truck's engine through in 2nd gear! I can almost feel the lactic acid pain just remembering it. I never got to ride down it on this side though.

Most of the pictures are Keller, Westlake and Southlake. I live in North Richland Hills. We'll have to get together for a ride.

Dave, I thought that I recognized your pics. I live in Colleyville and do 40-50 mile rides on Sunday AM's, occasionally on Saturdays. Let me know if you want to do a ride sometime.
Great...Dave Hickey

It's amazing how these ride reports bring all the local riders out. Seems like many of us live in the same area and don't even know it. Anyone from the Canton/Akron area?
