Merry Xmas...did anyone go for a ride today?...Djudd

snowy, rainy and cold in DC but I headed out before the day broke...a shorty (20 miles) but it felt really good. Now I can eat and not feel so guilty. Anyone else riding today.

First, riding today would probably have me spending tomorrow in divorce court. Second, its an incredibly rainy, cold, windy, miserable day here in NJ. I have to give you credit for heading out in this stuff. I'll just have to be content playing with come of the cycling goodies Santa brought.

Merry Christmas!

I went out on my Xmas ride, and it was just a great day for it! Did over 100K, Calgary-Cochrane-Bragg Creek, roads were for the most parts deserted, except for a few semis. Saw maybe 2-3 other riders at the Bragg Creek gas station( coffee stop!) There was a strong W. headwind starting out, but afterwards coming back, the tailwind was much appreciated! It was quiet, felt like I had the entire road to myself. After I got home, cleaned up, went to the family's for Xmas dinner. Going riding again on the 26th(Boxing Day recovery spin :^), and I gotta burn off that Xmas dinner!

a short and quick 30 miles. Roadies were out in droves today. There is not a single cloud in the sky here in San Diego.

Did a nice steady 2 hours, dry and mild with the sun out for most of the time, only saw about 20 cars the whole time! Included a nasty little climb over into The Golden Valley, just over a mile long and mostly 25%, cranked up it in 39x21 - one of those climbs that makes you think if my chain snapped now........

I live in Cambridge. Very flat area. Where in the UK is this Golden Valley climb?

Thanks in advance.

The climb is about 7 miles west of Hereford.

It's a single track 'C' road which starts near Bredwardine at 290ft and climbs to 845ft in just under a mile - a brutal little climb. Then drops down into Dorstone village in The Golden Valley.

Still discovering the massive network of lanes in Herefordshire - but so far this is the steepest one I have found.

Thanks for the info. I travel to Winchcombe and have found some decent hills. Nothing like the one you refer to in Golden Valley.

Thanks for the info.

In DFW it was in low 40's, windy, but sunny. I just built up my new custom frame the last two days and went out for a first ride on the new rig. All was spot on and went for a quick forty for a quick break from the X-mas frenzy. Hope yall have a great holiday...

got 6 inches of snow last night.
Couldn't convince children to go with me.
I made it 2 houses down and chain lodged in between front spocket and frame ,ending that ride quickly.
I guess the next few days my bikes will get a long over due tune ups.

It was cold and rainy when I got up, but cleared by noon. After everyone was done opening presents and eating, I decided to go for an easy spin. A front is moving through NC today, so it was extremely windy with gusts over 40 mph (according to the news). I rode for 90 minutes, at a slow pace for a nice recovery ride. Glad I went. Now I can eat some more.

Southern California. Nippy but clear and sunny.

I like holidays because of light traffic. Generally, motorists are nicer and not in a hurry but always there are the a**holes who just don't get it.

Merry Christmas to all you courteous folk, and to the guy in the black pickup, may you find a lump of coal in your shoe!!

Unlike tropical Calgary, here in Edmonton it's about -8 celsius, but sunny. I know a couple of hard cases who'll be out there, though, since the roads are clear and bare.

We had snow last night, so I worked out for an hour and 45 minutes on the trainer. Did a few sets of one mile on and one mile off, going up to my AT. Spent 50 minutes in zone 3 and 4, and most of the rest in zone 2. I don't think that I could have done that outdoors, this time of year. I'm hoping that the snow melts by New Years day, so that our team can do it's annual chilly ride. (It's a fun ride, without any sprints)

When you are divorced, no kids, 40 years old and no other family the holidays tend to be just another day. rode about 3 hrs boy the wind blowing staedy at 20-25 with gust 30-35 in north carolina. I tell you you can take everything from me seriously but you do not touch my bikes may seem childish but racing and riding the bike is the only thing that has gotten me thru some really tough hard times latley.
anyways.
everbody be xtra careful out riding the next few days with new years coming up lots of drunks on the road.

Very Nice Ride....Bixe

Today is one of two days every year that I wouldn't miss the ride for anything. This is the one day every year that El Dorado Park is closed up tight except for access from the River bike route. So it's a chance to ride some fast laps through the gloriously deserted Park without a car in sight. Even the obnoxious, spoiled, overfed geese stay out of the way..

I rode something over sixty miles down to and around the Newport Back Bay. The early start meant I didn't see the regulars until the return leg..

The other day is July Fourth: The Huntington Beach PD has been closing Pacific Coast Highway between Golden West and the Pier to auto traffic (crowd control) and they enjoy watching me enjoy screaming up and down the middle of a deserted PCH for a couple of laps. The other 364 days a year, sprinting down the middle of PCH is only done as a life saving measure..

Despite 20 mph winds yielding a wind chill of 22, I managed to get in 30 nice miles this morning before dealing with the family. I thought GA was supposed to be warm?!? I was not thrilled with the cold but love being able to ride on normally busy roads. Too bad my new LS wasn't under the tree yet to test out. Oh well, Friday will be here soon enough.

I agree that Hotlanta was too freaking cold. Will be again tomorrow....brining the new ride to the Airport ride Sunday?

I opted for a short run instead. I wanted to feel a little less guilty for eating too much.

We'll see. With the increasing number of crashes, I am not sure I want its maiden voyage to be in one. If not this weekend, then next. I want to get the kinks out before taking it on a 90 mile ride.

At least today is sunny!

According to 11Alive, it is supposed to be 58 here Sunday. I'm off to freeze on the Silver Comet right now. It's a balmy 36 degrees out.

... so I just worked on fixing up the garage as a bike shop. Got my wife's Higgins and an old Peugeot I pulled out of the trash hung up and out of the way, and started wiring the place.

I've got the week off, and I hope to get a decent ride in every day, 25 miles minimum daily.
Bitter cold and no sun..DINOSAUR

But very light traffic. I climbed for three miles on one part of my ride and was not passed by any cars. I'm lucky if I can get 2 rides in a week with all the rain we have been having on the west coast (107% of normal for the month).

I always try to ride on Christmas morning, couldn't last year because of rain...guess I'm lucky as my wife understands my passion.....

Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas....but I'm ready for summer...Wasn't the first day of winter just a couple of days ago?

Big storm in NJ says NO. Leaving with family to visit in-laws & see VW Golf with roof rack and road bike. As I passed, it was a Litespeed up in the snow, rain & road splash. I felt sorry for the guy.
I did! 40*, partly sunny, no snow in Spokane! Nice day! nmgogene
