I always knew racing cars was strenuous, now I can prove to my racing buddys that it's not silly riding bikes.

I do a column for AutoWeek, the magazine Tom posted the link to...Four or five years ago I was invited to be in a "celebrity" race before a Trans-Am in Reno, driving Legends cars, sort of 3/5-scale racers with motorcycle engines. Greg was there for some other undercard race, in a much faster car. I knew him slightly because I work for the newspaper in Reno, where he grew up, and he wanted to try one of the dozen or so Legends cars they'd set up for us.
We'd all been practicing for a couple of hours, getting our times down, and several of us were thinking, "Let's get this bicycle boy on the track and whip his skinny butt." They strapped him into a car, no warmup or anything, and in a couple of laps he was at least a second (a LOT, in car racing) faster than any of us... I think I can still coast downhill faster than he can, though.
