|I am now starting to book my vacation for 2003 and would like to take a week and do some sort of cycling tour.
I am looking for something out in western Canada or the U.S. or if someone knows of anything in Pennsylvainia to lets say South Carolina area's.
I live in Central Ontario Canada, but I am willing to travel to the west coast.
I will be heading to Europe in the fall for 4 weeks and will take a 5 day trip in the dolomites.

|I did a tour in the San Juan Islands with Bicycle adventures last July. The trip was very well organised; althought, the cycling milage was not as much as I would havce liked. Great support, food, and accommodation. I'm thinking about doing a trip with them next July in the Columbia river gorge.
You can check out their trips at bicycleadventures.com

|Think it is in July, runs west to east across the state, stays are at college dorms and they of course use the facilities at each stop, gear is transported to next stop, fully supported, NO CAMPING, cost was high for this type of ride IMHO, $900?|

|We've done it 3 times now. Really enjoyed it. We also have really good things to say about OATBRAN the ride across Nevada.
We prefer the size of these rides over the larger rides we have done.

|I went a few years ago -- I think the cost was around $1000 for the week. That included parking for the week in Philadelphia, transport of me and my bike from Philadelphia to Pittsburg, my own dorm room and 3 good meals a day. The single dorm room option was extra cost, but well worth it IMO since it got you an air conditioned room on two nights when the doubles had to stay in the un-air conditioned dorm.
$1000 for a week long vacation with everything included is not a bad deal IMO. The ride was well run, challenging and not too large (around 250 people) compared to Bike VA or Ride the Rockies.
I didn't like Bike VA too much, but it was a flat course in Southern VA. Deadly hot. My wife and I did the hotel option and felt it was worth every penny and more.
RTR is a great tour. Again, we did the hotel thing with luggage delivery service.
The Andy Hampsten ride we did in Tuscany for our honeymoon was the absolute best vacation I've ever had. If my office Powerball pool hits, I'm going again real soon.
