what the heck, With my miles on the trainer... a Minoura MagTurbo Ergo suddenly started making a horrible burning smell and the resistance unit is getting HOT. My tire is only getting marginally warm. I can reduce the resistance or decrease the pressure on the tire to the point where it is barely touching, but still it smells like I am "burning rubber" no pun intended. Is the trainer toast or am I suddenly... after plenty of hours this winter... doing something wrong... I cant find the documentation, can anyone help???

Sounds like a bearing inside the unit has increased friction and is creating enough heat to melt some type of rubber dust seal or vibration mount.

If it isn't under warranty, take it apart and see.

Does the flywheel spin freely? Any "grinding" feel to it at all?

(also try to keep your speed under 50 MPH!)

I will try and take it apart and see. I dont think there is any grinding... bizarre. Thanks for the input. Yah, I had it on the highest resistance and was doing a few repeats, but my cadence on the big ring couldnt have been any higher than 50 or so. So I backed off the resistance and put it at half and then switched to small ring and tried high cadence, but didnt get any better. My wife thought the house was on fire...
