-Rant on-

Coming down a hill in Paradise Valley - outside Phoenix.
Clippin down the hill around 30-35, (night time) - hit a shallow pothole, my battery flies out of my water bottle cage, hits the front spokes, (rolf vector comps) and flails around the front wheel (hanging by the cord to the lights)till I can come to a stop. I'm praying the battery cord or battery don't get between the spokes and end my bike ride abruptly! Longest 10 seconds of my life!

Battery is chewed up from hitting the spokes and the ground, three spokes are bent near the rim.. (wheels are still true)

Later (same ride) :-( I hit these huge metal plates a road crew had put over the holes they dug in asphalt (no markers, no orange cones, barricades, etc - couldn't see them, same color as the road) The plates are about three centimeters thick. I hit the edge straight on. thought I'd blow both tires.

Again, (!) battery flies out of water bottle cage, bounces around the road until I come to a stop.

This has just not been a good night for me.

Just needed to rant.

Talk about freakin hairy!!

Sounds like a rough night. After your story, I might start using the velcro strap that came with my battery to hold it in place.
get a Cateye bottle cagegtx

Get a cheap plastic Cateye bottle cage. They are kind of ugly, but those things never lose battery bottles--a mtber favorite. Not sure if they still make them, though...might have been replaced by a newer or different model.
What do you mean.............Len J

"This has just not been a good night for me"?

Seems like it was a great night. You had 2 major incidents where you could have been seriously hurt or worse & you ended up with nothing more than a little adreneline (Sp?) and a damaged battery. Sounds like you should be grateful to me.

PS Might want to figure out how to strap that battery down.
PSS. Glad you're OK.
They make a poster for that ...Humma Hah

May not make you feel better, but you may at least crack a smile:
