Have you given in to holiday temptations???(11 posts)

Have you given in to holiday temptations???PaulCL

I must confess, I have. One of the reasons I'm a scrooge - constant temptations with food over the holidays. Will I ever be able to ride it off????

My recent temptations:
My wife and friends baked 100's (yes, hundreds) of cookies on Saturday
A client of mine sent to me a 3 pound Hershey Chocolate bar today. Oh the horror...
Free lunches everyday this week. Healthy...not a chance
A party last Saturday, one this Friday and Saturday...
Candy canes everywhere.......

No wonder I've gained ten pounds in the last couple of hours. This is just my annual lament about gaining weight in December. It will all be off by the end of January.

Anyone else so weak in front of such yummy morsels of the holidays???

P.S. The 3lb Chocolate bar has been put out for my entire office to enjoy. I bought a jar of peanut butter at lunch just to make it taste better. I'm really joking about all of this becuase eating goodies is part of enjoying the holidays. Now, off to do about twenty straight hours on the rollers.....

Life is too short not to enjoy it. I eat what I want. I work it off. Eat, drink, ride/swim/run, and be merry.

As a mail carrier on the same route for over a decade I will get more then 5 lbs of Sees candi, 6 dozen cookies or more, about 6 bottles of wine, a few assorted holiday breads cakes etc. I leave most at the office when I get back. I have no chance if I take any home. Except for the two lbs of fudge. About the best I have tasted and I keep that.

So if you don't take those 6 bottles of wine home, do you drink it at work and do your mail route drunk?

Sounds OK to me... hope you have a walking route and not a driving one.

Well the good part is that I am pretty scrawny to begin with. I've gained about 15 lbs since october, especially since thanksgiving :-), and nobody really notices. Just my wife, who is used to me getting a little "christmas belly" every year anyway and thinks it's funny. So far it's always gone away by march (crossing fingers... one of these years I'm afraid it's going to stick around if I'm not careful...)

I mentioned how much I'd gained in the last month or so to a friend the other day and they didn't even believe me!

I'm eating less, drinking less, and riding harder than I did in 2002. However, I must confess that earlier tonight I knocked out a bomber of Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye and am now working on a North Coast Old Stock. All bets are off on Sundays.
