I am travelling to VA from CT on Friday to pick of my lady and being that we are both U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman we would like to stop in Arlington to visit the Iwa Jima Memorial (one corpsman/four marines). Now I'm guessing that it's not going to be on any kind of map or atlas that I could buy here, so I thought maybe you'd be so kind as to give me some directions from the interstate, so we can just stop in take some pictures and then hit the road again without too much confusion. Think you could help me out? Thanks in advance...

I'm not Mark, but here's a map. #2 is Iwa Jima

I wasn't sure who else lived in that area. Is there anywhere I could get a larger map like that one to print?

I'd go to Yahoo maps or Mapquest and scale to taste (nm)Scot_Gore

The memorial is an easy walk from the Rosslyn stop on the DC metro (Orange Line) and a similar distance from the Arlington Cemetery Stop on the Blue Line. It's right next to Rt. 50 (which extends to the Beltway, I495), off of Ft. Myer Drive (road?). You should be able to plot various approaches on mapquest, and print them at different scales.

I'll be travelling on the Beltway. So I can take an exit off of that onto Rt. 50? It sounds like it wont be as difficult to find as I anticipated.

If you're on the beltway in Virginia, you can exit from the Beltway onto Rt 50 (Arlington Blvd), going east. It's probably 6 or 7 miles on 50 into town.

Are you riding or biking to the Memorial? It is in Rosslyn right next to Arlington National Cemetery.

Biking you just cross the Memorial Bridge and follow 110 if you are on the Highway there are lots of signs. Lots of parking too so driving or biking is not a problem.

I could almost ride there in my sleep but getting there by car is a little harder for me.
Don't drive it in Rush Hour.MB1

I checked it out this morning on my way in. There is an exit off of US50 that will take you directly there.

You can also take the Rosslyn exit from US66 and turn Left on N. Lynn Street. The Memorial will be on your left-park on the street.

This is what the Parkway looked like (from my bike) this morning. Not good......
