second cross race review (haiku)JS Haiku Shop

eighth, last week's cross race
anaerobic baptism
started the race sore

this week, on 'cross bike
placed second with big time gap
here's a quick review:

ride, dismount, then run
remount, ride in mud, soft grass
some pavement, gravel

...and suffer in pain
for about thirty minutes
...and then it's over

cross racing secrets:
ride smart, hard, and remount fast
swallow own vomit

:)
only one mistake?DougSloan

swallow own vomit?
no need for pride
free the monster

Sounds like "fun". Good job.

the pain-to-dollar ratio is higher. my philosophy: if I have to pay to suffer, I must get my money's worth.

it's the last one in the 7-race series, so i'll probably ride another "C" race next weekend, then another "C" in next year's opener, then upgrade if i place top 3/top 5 in the first 2 in 2003.

then again, i'm hoping to race MTB in 2003, so i may go into the 'cross season with a category that requires "B" race from the get-go. or, i might be in a full body cast.
