Twas the ride before Christmas, and all through the state
Not a jumper was jumping, for the snow was quite late.

The bike was NOT hung by the rafters with care,
In hopes that the St. Eddy would admire the grit and the flare.

The child was all nestled all snug in her bed
While I wonder if she thinks dad is right in the head.

And Mamma with her smirk, and I in my bike crap
Had just settled that I can take a long winter's lap.

Over my left shoulder there arose such a clatter,
I held my line firm and saw what was the matter.

Away went the SUV. It flew like a flash
Must have failed the emission test with that cloud of ash.

The skiers awaiting the new-fallen snow
Gave a huff and puff across the frosted MUT's flow.

Can I ask a dumb question? I see MUT often, what does it stand for??

Thanks.

When what to wondering eyes should appear,
A brand new connection downtown for the commuters round here.

I spun the pedals so lively and quick.
I knew in any moment the snow could come quick.

More rapid than eagles the cold did set in.
So I ducked in the bike shop with a smile and a grin.

To the top of the pack! To the top of the hill!
Now spin away! Spin away! Spin away all!
As sure as the city will get use of this rink,
When winter settles in hard, my riding will stink.

So for now to pavement the Allez and I fly.
With a smile on my face and on a natural high.
And then, in the distance, there arose such a hill.
That I stood on my pedals in spite of the chill.

As I drew to the crescent and was just starting down,
A black Look flew by me like I was just standing around.
Stem ALERT!: He didn't deserve to dust you ;-) nmSpunout

He was dressed all in Assos from is his head to his foot,
And his bar tape was wore from the grim and soot.
A Camelbak of hydration he wore on his back,
And he looked like a Cat breaking away from the pack.
His eyes, how they focused! His line never wavered!
His legs were like tree stumps, his breath never labored!
His cadence did spin in a blinding display,
And he handled the bike like a sculptor does clay.
The bar ends he held tight in his grip,
And the sweat blew away with no time to drip.
He was already in the big ring, I was starting to fade.
Then he glanced back my way and was offering aid.
He was spinning and mashing, using all of his skills,
And I laughed at myself, for I needed lots of drills.
A wink of his eye and twist of the wrist,
He was offering a wheel, not shaking his fist.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
He spun up the speed, while I watched my fork.
And laying his finger aside of his shift
And giving a nod, off the back I did drift.
He sprang from his saddle, his steed gave a whistle,
And away they both flew like the down of thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he rode out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all my RBR friends.
Scot

Thanks Scot !
That was cool & scary looking at the same time ;-)
I am always amazed at what you folks on the mainland have to go through at winter. Makes me ashamed at the way I complain when I have to start out at 50ish degrees which will always warm to at least 70 as soon as I descend to sea level.

You are referring to the out of sequence thing? I'm not sure what happened, it could be an error occured while you were posting...I would move it, but your story is so good, I don't want to mess anything up!

Sorry 'bout that.
