When you call Litespeed, the phone answers American Bicycle Group.

Is American Bicycle run by the folks at Litespeed?

Or, is American Bicycle a huge outside group with deep pockets that has been funding all of the Litespeed acquisitions as well as the decisions to expand into aluminum frames? If so, does the Lindsky family no longer call the shots over at Litespeed?

If memory serves, Litespeed bought and runs the Quintana Roo and Merlin brands. As far as I know, they still build them seperately. As for the LS aluminum frames, they are a merely a 'branching out' into a more affordable price range for consumers.

ABG is Litespeed, Merlin, QR and Tomac. I believe someone with money bought LS a few years ago and have proceeded to add brands. At this point some of the bikes are made here in the Litespeed factory in Tenn. others are made in Taiwan, maybe elsewhere as well.

So who really calls the shots at Litespeed?

The original founding family or that someone with money who bought into LS?

Got me! Does it really matter as long as they hire good people to do the work? When Litespeed started the Lynskys didn't know jack about bikes, they were a company that built titanium water purification systems for the 3rd world and thought titanium bikes would be a good spin off, so they started building them.
