|Is anyone wearing Sidi Energy 2s? (not necessarily right now, but when you ride!)
I am curious as to what the tension rachet in the sole actually does, besides increase the price from the Genius 4 (yes I know, it has velcro as compared to buckles) by $100.

|I currently ride on Sidi Energy 2's. 3 months now. I don't notice anything from adjusting the tension ratchet on the sole. It seems just "eye-candy." But I will say this: the micro-adjust dial "thingies" are fantastic for adjustment while on the fly (much better than Velcro). I got mine for a "song" from TotalCycling ($129 + $15 shipping).|

|I use Energies to achieve velcro emancipation. The device you're asking about is supposed to adjust the stiffness of the sole. I cannot tell the difference from one adjustment extreme to the other, but some people can (I must be too weak).
I have always found them at a lower price than the street price of the Genius 4. TotalCycling sells them for US$140, which is only $30 more than their price for Genius 4s.
I don't think I would call the adjuster thingies on the Energies 'buckles', but they're not velcro. They seem rather fragile to me, but I haven't broken one yet, and they are replaceable.
