too many discussion boards?gtx

Every time I go away for a while and come back another discussion board has been added. I think it's getting silly. Maybe they should add a Litespeed Bashing board and a Will It Damage My Bike If I Hang It From A Hook board. It seemed more fun and varied before. Seriously, I think they should just have three boards: Roadie, Non-Cycling and Triathlons. Thoughts?

This is the only one I visit on RBR, so I must miss some good threads.

Concept sound, but in practice the threads would go off the page so fast that it would be unworkable for anyone on a 56 connection, and a PIA for everone else.

Of course, if the screen content could be made to scroll longer, and you could "tag and view" the threads you were intersted in, it would be different. One for Gregg?
Pls. take this to the Discussion Board board (nm)Crankist

I'm sure there are plenty of people who would say get rid of Triathlons and keep Racing, or drop Non-Cycling and add Components, or whatever other variations there are. Some people hang out more on the Racing board than the General board, so they would have a different perspective.

This is a living, breathing thing. At different points during the year, activity differs across the boards (anyone on the Tour board right now?). I'm sure gregg can run a query and analyze that activity pretty quickly, so if any boards need to be eliminated or combined for some reason, he'll do it.

I guess my point is I'm interested in racing, components, hot deals, fixed gears, cross, etc., "retro" or whatever, and don't see why they need to be separated. I think it's a pain to have to click on all the different boards--I personally don't do it--and I think the discussions suffer as a result. Most people I know also do all these things--ride/race road, mtb, do cross in the winter, whatever. I picked on Triathlon cause it's the one thing I'm NOT interested in, and it generally seems to be a pretty separate and specialized discipline (I've been dragged into riding relay in a few). I'm sure there are some triathletes that ride cross or fixed gears, I've just never met one. I actually liked this site best when it was just "roadies rejoice" over at mtbr.com, but maybe that's just me...
