Santa Came Early......with a Merckx!!ATLien

I'm a frequent lurker around these parts but had to post a pic of the new rig that I took delivery of last week. Sorry to those of you that were waiting on my review of the Orbea Force Carbon, I cancelled my order after they jerked me around for 2mo and I found a sweet deal on this 62cm 2002 Merckx Team SC (small plug for GVH Bikes, Thx Gary!!). Had it built up with my wish list and have loved every minute I've spent in the saddle so far. It may be last year's paint, but it's new to me!

I had a play with one when I tested a Flyer. Fantastic.

That paint scheme is way better in the flesh even than it looks here.

Bet you'll enjoy that for a long while.

I am sold on the slack angles since getting my Look 381i
Same reason I too was also looking at a Orbea.
Enjoy your Merckx ....thats a beauty & one I also considered.
Welcome to the Merckx family... there's no turning back!Tig

Your official name is now "ATLien Merckx" :-)
After a few rides, you'll learn that you can't go back to lesser bikes... you'll be hooked for life! The geometry has a magic quality about it which words can do no justice. Yours is a beauty. I'm sure you'll love it. Unlike most builders who are using scandium, Merckx likes to overbuild his slightly fo better durability.

Since Merckx uses the same geometry on all his bikes, they provide an excellent way to compare different frame materials. A teammate has both the Team SC like yours, as well as the Fuga w/carbon fiber seat stays. After months of riding both (same wheels and components) he says the SC is like a true rocket when it comes to acceleration. The Fuga accelerates well, but specializes in better comfort than the SC. The SC is a true 100% racing machine. The Fuga is a race bred, but also has the ability to make a century comfortable.
Yeah, I had looked at the Team originally and decided that..ATLien

it was just too much $$, so I was pretty psyched when I found it at such a great deal.

I've only had 2 rides on it yet, but every one of your comments seem to be true so far. The faster you go, the tighter it gets, but doesn't ever feel squirrely. It definitely makes me want to ride every day.

Sweet ride - cool paint and the tires and bar tape
matching is cool for style too. Nice wheels as well.
