I've been working my way toward buying a Merlin and recently noticed on their website that the XL Compact appears to have been replaced in the 03 line by the Magia. Does anyone here have the inside scoop on this new frame? Is is largely just the XL Compact with a new name, or have they made significant changes to the frame itself?

its about a half a pound lighter than the xl compact and also slightly less stiff in the BB.. you can find good deals on XL compacts at Excel sports.. the frames are going for around 1800 bucks now as they are no longer produced.
What's the replacement for the XL Compact? Or is there one? nmfbg111

Compatriot at the shop got one a little while back; I took it around the block. The ride is very comfortable, but it's definitely a spinner's bike. Sprinting out of the saddle resulted in rubbing chainrings. If you're a distance rider, purely recreational, then it's the perfect ride for you; a competitive rider, though, may need a stiffer frame.
