last night i dreamt ofSpirito

.. just being on a bike in warm weather riding down some hills.

sometimes waking up to reality is overrated ..... but i found this pic that is close to what i was dreaming of ... col de tende in france - close to the italian border (?)

that is a beautiful shotColnagoFE

I can just imagine riding down it at speed. You do that one enough and you'd get really good at cornering.

stelvio - needs no other intro

i bet there is a LBS at the bottom that sells nothing other than brake pads and bandages.

Wow that is beautiful. Looks like a great climb too...rwbadley

I think the climb would make the descent all the sweeter!

Riding down, not upCaptain Morgan
Dec 6, 2002 7:58 AM
I noticed you said "riding down," not "riding up"!!!
make no mistake ....Spirito

if i can choose i would ride down rather than up a hill.

perhaps a balance is riding accross the ridgetops of mountains - as Jobst Brandt is in the picture at Gavia ....

even mrs. hickey knows that the quick release levers should be on the non-drive side.

check it for yourself ....'s.htm

Okay, someone needs to tell me what's up with that?Kristin

Why so, "on the non-drive side?" Will my hub crack? Or my rim collapse? Or I'll just be a fredess?
to my mind ......Spirito

there ain' t no such thing as a female fred.

in answer to your question nothing bad will happen if you QR's are on the "wrong" side.

and as we all know Wilma is ever so much cooler.

Kristin, the only logical reason I've ever heard for having your Q/R on the non-drive side (in front) is that this helps aid a quick wheel change in a crit or RR. In the back, it merely makes sense because you don't have the rear mech in the way. Other than the fred factor, there's no impact to functionality if you are not racing.

That is crazy. Why would anyone build a road like that? Sometimes it's smarter to go around the mountain! I'd sure love to climb it. I love climbs where you can look down and see the road below (and all the people you've dropped along the way). Can't beat this one for that.
What's worse? Insessant switchbacks, or those highway seams? nmKristin
