I am purchasing my first steel frame , I am a
good sized rider . I have decided ,tentatively,
on either an IF crown jewel or an eddy merckx
mx leader which is available on special order.
Any thoughts or opinions would be apreciated
the mercxk would be good for a bigger riderColnagoFE

just curious...why those 2 frames and how big and tall are you?

I am 5' 11" 210 lbs. / I choose those 2 frames because I
have heard that they have minimal bottom bracket flex and they are not made from lightweight, oversized tubes ,I
will probably get the merckx even though it weighs about 6
lbs

It is HEAVY but a GREAT ride.
I wouldn't sweat the weight.dzrider

You would have to get the frame down to 3.7 lbs to make a 1% decrease in the combined weight of the bike and rider. Unless you're counting on an ability to accelerate the bike as quickly as possible at the end of a race or keep up with climbers in the mountains, it's hard to imagine the 1% weight penalty being more important to your riding than how comfortable you feel going down the road. Two fine choices!
