Well,
It was the first real cold one but it is amazing how much colder you think it is going to be outside than it really is while you are riding. I rode my fixed gear and did my 13 miles. What a way to split up the day.

Not to brag, well ok, to brag:

I did my daily 11 Miles this morning at 6 degrees. Didn't have any problems. Will do another this evening.
That is worth bragging about nmbigrider

I was gonna say I rode this AM at 22 F but ...Humma Hah

... obviously I was a digit too high.

I can't see any reason not to ride at 6 F, just make sure the moving parts all still move before you take it out. I'm not sure the grease in mine would let the BB, wheels, and headset turn.
yup coldest one so farishmael

my water bottle turned to slush...if only i had better gloves and something a bit more than my balaclava it would be perfect.

When I rode my winter fixie yesterday for 12 miles. It has Nokian 700-35 studded tires, and a 42/16 gearing. Look cleats get packed with snow easily, too.
how do you dress?stuttsdc

So what do you wear in these temps? I'm doing some road riding this weekend. It will start in the low 30s and get to the very low 40s. Not sure what to wear.

I've got a mid-weight wicking long-sleve shirt, a light-weight long-sleve jersey, and a thin windjacket. just doesn't seem like enough on the torso. I have another thin short-sleve jersey i could add...i've also got arm warmers too. not sure. wish i had a heavier jersey.

i've got both sugoi midzero tights and leg warmers. not sure if i should wear both or if the tights are enough on their own.

(the rest of my body is taken care of.)
You guys are hardcore.Ian

I could not ride in those temps. It was in the high 70's today in Orlando. I know many of you would kill for a ride in that type of weather, but I didn't ride today. I have been busy getting ready for a business trip to Milwaukee. I won't get to ride up there, not that I would even try, but I'm not looking forward to the 20 degree temps. If nothing else, going for a 27 degree lunch ride must make you happy to be back inside at work.
