Last May during a group ride, a car changed lanes to be closer to the front group of 8 riders and tossed a fast food bag with fries at the riders. Although a guy was hit with this 60 mph projectile, he wasn't hurt and didn't swerve and crash as could have easily happened. A little while later as we finished the ride across the street from the LBS was the same car (parked on the sidewalk facing the wrong direction to boot)! Cops were called (again) and when they showed up two guys bolted from the condo building. Put on the ground and handcuffed by our city's finest.

The two kids (18 years old) confessed in written statements but did not plead guilty in court. There may have been an issue of probable cause. However, the day before the trial was to start last week, they changed their plea to guilty of assault. Should have got them for littering as well, and parking on the sidewalk while we're at it. Sentencing to come. Hopefully they will have learned an expensive lesson and at least get some community service time.

It just goes to show that sometimes we win one when we report incidents to the police. Ride safely!
