Excel Sports - Great Customer Service(6 posts)

Excel Sports - Great Customer Servicezmarke

I originally heard about Excel Sports on this website and they seemed to have a good reputation. I routinely monitor their closeout and specials to see if there is something I really do not need but would buy anyway at the right price.

I found a Spot Brand chainring on sale at Excel and emailed them to make sure that it would technically work for me and ask that if my younger brother (who lives local to the shop) purchased it in the shop and not via the web would the price be the same. They said yes. He then went to the shop but they refused to match the price because they stated the size I wanted was not on sale.

To make the story short...

I contacted Customer Support and they said that my email may have been confusing about the exact size I wanted but they also admitted that the listing was incorrect and it was fixed shortly thereafter.

Needless to say, my brother got to purchase the chainring for me at the SALE price in the size I wanted and Excel Sports is now on the top of my list for mail order bicycle parts. Too bad I do not live locally.

If someone else has the same thing for a few cents more, I still order from Excel because when there's a mixup, it's easily resolved. They're a little steep on shipping though, so I just make sure to order lots of stuff at once.

More kudos here. I bought a closeout frame last month. This month the price was once again reduced and sure enough, they cheerfully refunded the difference without the slightest hesitation. They are very pleasant to deal with.

Ditto. I got Gregg to price match Abici, who has great prices, but spotty service. Excel has also always gotten my orders right the first time.
Gregg is very professional...PsyDoc

...and I bought my Seven Axiom Ti from Excel and had great customer service. I just recently bought a custom built wheelset from them and Gregg was excellent in helping me put together a nice wheelset. I ended up with 28 front / 32 rear dura ace hubs laced to Ritchey Aero and OCR wheels with DT Revolutions spokes (14/15) and alloy nipples. The wheelset comes in around 1530 grams and was less than $300.00.
