My STI shifter is stickingjohnnybegood

Yesterday on my daily ride my left Dura Ace double shifter stuck when I pushed the brake lever to upshift from the small ring to the large ring. It shifted OK but would not return to the straight ahead position. I gave it a very gentle push and it popped back like normal. This happened every time I shifted. It only has about 1500 miles on it, but I shift alot to maintain a very tight cadence range. It's never been in the rain or dust, although it has been very low humidity here in southern california the past few weeks. I seem to remember a thread awhile back about pulling off the top cover and spraying WD-40 down inside to solve sticky shifters. Any other ideas?

You can try the WD-40 thing, spray it in the levers while the bike is upside down and let it dry out for a couple of hours (or over-night) then put a couple of drops of Triflow in.....you might try lubing your cable also... at 1500 miles they should just be getting broken in...is this on a new bike? Might be a warranty issue....also check your front der adjustment, cable might have stretched and you need to take in some slack (I'd try this first)...
DINOSAUR is right.....eyebob

Turn your bike upside down & clean the BB Cable guide & then lub the cables here. I had the same thing you are describing happen & found that Sugar from gatorade Had gunked up the cable guide.

I had a similar problem. Turned the bike upside down, drowned the shifter in WD40. Have put 1500 miles on the bike since then and it shifts fine. Glad I didn't take others advice who told me to get a new shifter.

Make sure that the shifter cable is not catching on anything around the derailleur
could be cable too tight, also nmtrekkie1
